ANAEROBIC CELLULAR
RESPIRATION TEST OF SEA-CROP

THE TEST:
Water , sugar and yeast were placed in sealed and vented containers and
the volume of off-gassed CO2 was measured against time.
A comparison was made between the treated mixture and the untreated
control.
THE APPARATUS:
Stoppered 500ml vacuum flasks were used for the fermentation vessels.
PVC tubing was attached to the venting tubeulation and the open
end was placed under inverted, water filled 400ml beakers that were
contained in water filled 2,000ml beakers.


THE METHOD:
250ml of water was placed in each fermentation vessel. To this, in each
vessel, one tablespoon of sugar(sucrose) and one quarter teaspoon
of common baking yeast was added. Nothing further was added to
the control. The treated test sample received an addition of three
drops of Sea-Crop.
After the first 24 hours of fermentation the off-gassed CO2 was
measured and showed volumes of 225CC for the control
and 300CC for the treated sample. The off-gassing for the treated
sample was 33% greater than the control during the first 24 hours.
CO2 produced during the next 16 hours was measured to be 370CC for the
control and 425CC for the treated sample which gave a 15% greater
volume for the treated sample.
CONCLUSIONS:
1. Increased cellular respiration in the treated sample produced more
CO2 than the control during the first 40 hours of fermentation.
2. The lag phase of yeast reproduction was shortened significantly for
the treated sample.
